The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations that offers effective character, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth.

Specifically, the BSA endeavors to develop American citizens who are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit; have a high degree of self-reliance as evidenced in such qualities as initiative, courage, and resourcefulness; have personal values based on religious concepts; have the desire and skills to help others; understand the principles of the American social, economic, and governmental systems; are knowledgeable about and take pride in their American heritage and understand our nation's role in the world; have a keen respect for the basic rights of all people; and are prepared to participate in and give leadership to American society.

Troop 170 has been in existence for over 50 years and is the oldest troop in Keller, TX. We meet on Mondays at 7:30, at Northwood Church

1870 Rufe Snow Drive
Keller, TX 76248

NorthWood Church is at northwest corner of Rufe Snow Drive and North Tarrant Parkway. From Loop 820
Exit Rufe Snow Drive and proceed north 4.3 miles.
From Southlake/Grapevine area
Proceed east down 1709.
Turn south onto Rufe Snow Drive and proceed 2.5 miles.

Every troop says they are boy led, but we really are – show up on any night and you can see our Scouts in action. We don’t put on any special show for guests, but, would love for you to see our troop in action. Our Scouts are mentored by a great group of highly trained and motivated leaders who let them exercise leadership by doing it, as well as through troop and personal accountability.

As our Activity shirt says, “We are not just any troop, we are Troop 170”. We are certainly not the biggest troop in the area, but historically we award one of the highest percentages of Eagles in the District. We enjoy all types of high adventure activities, as well as basic camping, hiking and backpacking.

No popcorn sales! Our troop enjoys having a wood lot where we sell fire wood during the fall through spring season. Generally we are there on Saturdays from 0830 -1230 when we are not camping. The boys can earn money for use in the purchase of personal gear, or use it to pay for camps though their participation at the lot. We have a couple of hydraulic splitters and chain saws (for Scouter use only) that will often be in action as you pass the site on Davis Blvd.
